A simple person making simple videos...
The reality is its probably raining right now or you're on your lunch break (or not, I wont tell!) and longing for a bike ride somewhere and you found this channel through a link or a recommendation and was hoping for some inspiration.
Well, don't expect adrenalin fueled downhill shredding, 40 foot gap jumps, Danny Mac style days out in the city with death defying balancing tricks, I'm not even that good at wheelies!
What you can expect is an average blokes perspective on mountain biking. Learning how to ride better and make better youtube content each week.
Thanks

This is my experience. Please note an e-bike could turn you into a fat and lazy mountain biker... I would put some affiliate links here to get you to support my channel with some relevant links but I can't think of any, so if you fancy anything from Amazon today please enter via here - amzn.to/3y578Fh That's actually a link to @Peatys store on Amazon. Little known fact, they gave me a discount ...

What do u think is wrong with my bike?when u change gears it takes long to do so mainly in gear 3 and when im just not pedaling i can hear some sort of bashing i dont know what it is if u know please let me know.
Got some 🔥
Same here with the loose crank arms! mine was creaking for weeks and even thought it was the motor. Bought new cranks and cleaned the splines and problem solved. My arms were working loose every few rides from new so definitely something to keep an eye on mate.
Good to know! I’ll be keeping an eye but this is after 5-600 miles.
Are you enjoying these vloggy videos? I will try to include more clips of riding and b-roll if you promise to keep watching...
I love these types of videos

Hi where did you get this exact colour? Thanks
Can’t remember sorry.
Ditto Tim, I’ve got a Cube Stereo Hybrid and an Orbea Alma hardtail (not far from you in Swindon). Love being out on either equally, tend to pedal at around 75/80 cadence all the time now.
Yeah I think that’s what noticed - around 80 no matter the bike. This is a good side effect
Yep❤
Yup
What a nightmare! Had a mechanical on my Ebike last week Mate. Channels stuck on the chainring and mech trashed. Bike mechanic reckons the chain got caught on one of the teeth on the chainring and as it rotated ripped the mech forward and trashed it. Only damage thankfully was the derailleur but have also ordered a new cassette, chainring and chain too. Thought it best to replace the lot.
Chain not channels 😂
let me guess: 12 speed derailleur?
… well said!!
What a strange mechanical failure, I had a similar failure but it was just the mech cage that got twisted, and a stick managed to get between the plates, The stick hit the ground as I stopped and dug in, the weakest point went bent cage plates
Mate I’m not even sure what took the mech out. Wide clear trail as far as we could all tell and no sign of a stick or anything.
@@TimFromWales too much power in your legs 🤫
Riding e-bike is like when you doing assisted pull-ups , it gives you some results but nowhere near like when you're doing real pull-ups.
@@damirculic9352 nope. It just lets you spend a lot longer doing the pull ups each time.
I agree. Surely the mech hanger should have saved the frame from being broken.
put some cute ladies in the content i always watch stuff like that =P
Should the mech hanger have broken and saved my chain stay??
I rode over a stick earlier this year, bent the rear mech and buckled the wheel but the hanger was fine. On the other hand my road bike, if I even look at the bike wrong I have to put a new hanger on. Sorry you had a rubbish day. Hopefully you can get rolling again soon.
@@CMZPICTURES I’m very careful and have never had a mech break before. My time was certainly coming - but for the chain stay to take such damage means there must have been a lot of force through the mech hanger. Either the mech hanger was too strong or the frame weak - at least that’s my opinion
@TimFromWales yeah it almost looks like the hanger rotated around the axle and chiseled into the end of the frame.
Yes! It didn’t do its job. 😢
Hello Tim! My experience is the same. The dropperpost of my regular bike I use to ride about 70% was on repair for weeks. So I only took the E-bike. Today was the first ride without motor, no power lost! 😊
Speaking from my own experience, you can definitely become faster, fitter, slimmer and an overall stronger more skilful rider from riding just E-Bikes, however if you use both, it's like having your cake and eating it, although you still have to put the work/miles in to see the results, E-bikes allow for less recovery days and are IMHO one of the best, if not THEE best training tool any cyclist can have.
So my video was trying to focus on the fitness side , so for me I’ve not noticed any difference in my weight or fitness. BUT I honestly have ridden less this last year then in previous years - so I think it’s allowed me to get by with lesser fitness. My main point was that it won’t make you less fit… You could argue that I am less fit as a result of riding less and riding an ebike when doing most of that riding.? But I think I’m at a reasonably stable level of fitness that would take a very noticeable change in my lifestyle to change. With regards the speed - what I have noticed is that when I ride a non eeb, I find myself pedaling faster as I have become accustomed to the higher cadence. I plan some follow up “vlogs” discussing the other aspects. Definitely notice an improvement in riding.
@@TimFromWales Yeah I understand what you're saying, it is of course a personal journey, dependant on your own experience, rider fitness level and input of effort, but I can say without doubt I'm definitely faster, fitter, slimmer and a much stronger rider after three years of owning several EBIKES, EMTB, E-Gravel & E-Commuter. My Strava stats all indicate I'm faster, fitter stronger in every department, cardio, strength/power endurance and stamina since I started using EBIKES as part of my personal training regime 3 years ago. Of course I still ride my OG bikes too, I'm recording overall much better stats across the board on every bike. Good luck with the training and I hope you can make or find time to get out more this year, it doesn't matter which bike you ride, the key is getting out as much as you can. Ideally I ride 40-50 miles every other day, but I prefer 30 miles every day, I swap from E-Bike one day to OG the next, works like a charm. I rest on a Sunday Lol... ATB from Scotland.
Love my eeb, also got an XC hardtail. Both brilliant fun, just different rides.
Just got my first e-bike last week. What I'm finding is I'm riding twice as long hours because it's so much fun, so I end up exercising longer at a less painfully hard intensity. Hills still require effort, but it's a moderated effort so you end up riding MORE hills because they become more fun. BTW, I'm from Utah, but I LOVE Wales. Such a great place and I want to go back everyday since my vacation there.
I'm a gravel rider and lapsed ironman triathlete. I used to do tons of very long road rides but like many people had a few years away from it when I became a parent. Got a Specialized Creo 2 to replace my Diverge, and it has been amazing. I've definitely seen my fitness increase because I basically only ride it in eco mode, but it's allowed me to crack out far longer rides, with more climbing, than I'd likely have done on the non-electric Diverge. I'll be adding an Amish bike back in before too long as I do miss riding purely on my own steam, but the Creo 2 has been a a game changer. For MTB I'd absolutely recommend electric to just about anyone. More laps, more fun.
Or you can do what I did - start from zero fitness. The e-bike will make you fitter reeal quick :D.
Spot on! Ride for fun!
Hired an ebike again in Peaslake. Garmjn said i burned 1800 calories in the 4 hours i was riding. Much more than i do normally on my bike. Maybe a 3rd more. Did about twice the distance in the time
I did similar yesterday 1500 in about 3 hours.
@@TimFromWales I assume it's to do with training zones and being in the optimal one because you're expending less effort but virtually non stop.. I haven't looked into it enough
@@IntoTheWhite04 Nor me, I think its something I could probably have researched to make this video more insightful - but then there's a danger I come across as sounding like I know what I'm talking about....
@@TimFromWales I just think the main takeaway is, more fun in the same amount of time and more often.
Spot on. It lets you stay in the best exertion phase for far longer.
Spot on Mate. Absolutely agree with what you’re saying. 👍
Thanks 👍
E-bikes are great You can get a good workout if you want, all depends on how you ride it. Lots of downhill runs with a heavy bike, means as you say you get a good upperbody workout as well.
Yup - if I ride more often I’ll be fitter and stronger. But the same goes for my “normal” bike. Bottom line is it just another bike and you can let it carry you or you can use it effectively
WARNING - E-Bikes can make you you have lots more fun....
Does this have a clutched derailleur
Yes
How much? What was the damage?
About £80 - but you can get other colours cheaper
You’re so right about Matthew Ashton . Whatta man! 😎
Those features are already built into your phone. No clunky app required!
Ok
My inner shell has got quite a bit of slack so I haven't got as much headroom. Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Are you putting it up right? Seems odd
what glasses you wearing there?
These are from Rad8 - model number 507. Great glasses.
i recently became aware of the Attack HPL - i have used Vee brand tires on my kid's bike, but they were tubed wire-bead type, and i really didnt pay much mind to them - but after watching some unbiased reviews about the Attack, it sounds like they may be the king of the hill for mixed terrain. if i didnt just get a new WTB Verdict on my freerider, i'd prolly slap an HPL on the front (next time) ~ perhaps i'll go with Attack HPL on front, Trail Boss out back on my next set. that's the hardpack dream set, right there~
This bike can take way more, than most people think it can.
I think the rucksack you show is the 18l one, it's certainly bigger than 12l.
Yes it is - that's my mistake
Not yet but soon
It's not a review just shows how to use them. Doesn't even answer what title says. Which one is best? So dumb.
ill only wear one when I travel. other then that no man purse for me
are those ray bans ?
I am very thankful for your video. I have the Flow Snaps on my Alpine Trail 7 and just noticed today that I have the same cracks running along the sidewall of my front tire. What a shame, indeed. Edit: I should also note I got this bike brand new just a few months ago and it's the 2023 model so I assume these tires weren't just sitting around for years in poor conditions before getting mounted. 95% of riding has been on sandy hard pack and/or pavement since I got it.
How’s this better than sharing your location through whatsapp ?
Congrats for coming out you're so brave
Sorry I don’t get it…
Lol That is my concern a bit.. I absolutely love the new sling bag I received, but have never used one before. “Transitioning” from a drawstring bag to a sling 😄
1:30 I thought this was a glasses compartment. And for a smartphone there is a compartment on the shoulder strap, although it is quite small for a smartphone 6,7".
Glasses work but as I don’t wear them other than for driving I didn’t even think of this.
Just bought one of these for some wildcamping - price has gone up a bit since the video was made but still cheap. Love the "discard instructions" part!
Can you record in HDR format using the insta 360 app??
Which camera are you referring to?
I haven't got one
I do not enjoy most EDC videos; they're disingenuous. They don't use the gear, its hidden sponsorship, and the exposition is nonsense. Much prefer this kind of content; its genuine, informative and interesting. And a little irony is always amusing 😉
Agree - I hate all that fake EDC nonsense - my summer EDC, I always carry these items just in case I need to make a fire, leave someone a note, pick a lock, tighten a bolt on a chair, check under a sofa, survive a zombie apocalypse 😂😂😂
Whereabouts was this ?
Out out West Country if you know you know…
@TimFromWales well i dont know or i wouldnt ask . Could be Triscombe or Puddletown or anywhere hard to tell in 50 seconds
It’s Forest of Dean - but I’m curious what did you see that you liked as there’s no trails and no riding? 😂
@@TimFromWales cheers, might have been somewhere I'd never heard of or been to, and was probably local(ish).
Might just mix this footage up with stuff from last week…
